Terms and Conditions of NIA: Studentpreneur Edition

There is no cost for submitting an innovation to the NIA Studentpreneur
Challenge.

All submissions MUST be from appointed Innovation Champions from institutions of higher learning (Universities, TVETs).

Each appointed Innovation Champion CAN ONLY submit a maximum of three student innovations.

All submitted innovations MUST be founded, created or owned by a student within an institution of higher learning in which the Innovation Champion is appointed.

All submitted innovations MUST be within the categories of the National Big4 Agenda (Affordable Housing, Affordable Healthcare, Food Security, Manufacturing)

Submissions MUST adhere to the word count limit specified in the application form.

All innovations must be submitted via the online application form by midnight (EAT) on 30 September, 2022. If you experience any difficulty with the form, please contact info@innovationagency.go.ke with the Subject: NIA Studentpreneur Challenge Submission.

In the event that an innovation is inaccurate or incomplete, does not comply with these conditions for innovation or is deemed, at the sole discretion of Kenya National Innovation Agency, ineligible for any other reason, then the relevant innovation will be disqualified.

Kenya National Innovation Agency shall consider each innovation on its merits and on the basis solely of the information provided in the online application form and any other web presence e.g. website, social media etc. All entries shall be considered in accordance with these Terms & Conditions.

Kenya National Innovation Agency will shortlist the entries to go through to a virtual pitching phase on to a final judging phase at Kenya Innovation Week in December 2022.

You will be informed whether your innovation has been shortlisted through the address provided on your submission form. Only shortlisted innovations will be contacted.

Shortlisted innovations will be required to supply images and other information to Kenya National Innovation Agency (on request) to be used for display in The Agency's marketing materials leading up to the Awards and during the week of Kenya Innovation Week. Innovators authorise The Agency to publicly display all and any such images and information provided for this purpose.

Kenya National Innovation Agency's decisions relating to shortlisting and granting of Awards in the course of judging is final and The Agency will not enter into any correspondence or discussion with any innovators on any subject nor will The Agency accept any submissions, representations or appeals with regard to such decisions.

Winning innovations will be required to supply banking details of their institution of higher learning, workplan, statutory documents and other information to Kenya National Innovation Agency before the award can be presented or disbursed through the institution.

The winners will be announced at the Kenya Innovation Week Innovation Awards ceremony on 8 December 2022, at Sarit Expo Centre. Further information can be found in the KIW programme of events

Kenya National Innovation Agency reserves the right to:
a. Disqualify entries that do not comply with these Terms & Conditions or for any other reason
b. Not make any particular Award in any given category
c. Move an innovation to another category without notice, if Kenya National Innovation Agency feels it would be better suited to the relevant category
d. Disqualify any innovation that is a product of two or more companies that does not have the agreement of all parties
